Tournament Rules
 

Team Provisions

* Maximum roster of 12 players; players not permitted on more than one roster

* Maximum of (2) adults on team’s bench, including head coach

* Must have team shirts with numbers

* Responsible for own warm-up balls

* Report to gym at least 15 minutes prior to your game, game will start as scheduled if team has 5 players

* Boys grades 3-6 divisions will use a 28.5 circumference basketball

* Boys grade 7-8 divisions will use a standard basketball

* All girl divisions will use a 28.5 circumference basketball

* In a game that does not have Spring-Ford playing in it, Home Team listed is required to keep the official score book. All games involving a Spring-Ford team, Spring-Ford is required to keep the official book regardless of home/away status.

 

 

All Divisions

* 18 Minute Halves with Modified Running Clock. (Clock stops for first foul shot and in the last minute of first half and last 2 minutes of second half.)

* 3 full time-outs per game; 1 additional time-out per overtime; no carryover

* Time stoppage in last minute of 1st and last 2 minutes of second half

* Coach may call time outs

* Player ineligible on 5th foul; shoot 1+1 on 7th team foul; 2 shots on 10th team foul

* Technical foul = personal and team foul, automatic 2 points for opposing team

* 3 point shot where marked

* Players or coaches ejected will be ineligible for next game

* PIAA rules in effect unless modified by the above

 

 

Boys Grades 3-4 and Girls Grade 4

 

* Man to man defense only. Except for inbound under the basket a team may play zone to defend their basket and fall into a man as soon as the ball is successfully inbounded)

* Help Defense - When your opponent is two or more passes from the ball, you

are allowed to be in "help-side" position. This will allow players to be in a position to help their teammates against the ball penetrating the paint. This involves dropping off your man some (but without losing sight of him/her), and sagging toward the ball-side one foot in the lane the other out of the lane.

* Pressing is allowed in the last two minutes of 1st and 2nd half (zone or man). Players must play man to man within the 3pt arc (trapping and help defense is allowed, no zone)

* No full court pressing with 15 point or greater lead

* Free throws: 3rd grade boys and 4th grade girls… The shooter will not be called for line violations where the player lands or steps over the foul line

* Pressing allowed in OT (provided a team is not winning by 15 or more points)

 

 

Girls Grade 5

 

* Man to man defense only (Except for inbound under the basket a team may play zone to defend their basket and fall into a man as soon as the ball is successfully inbounded)

Boys Grades 5-8 and Girls Grades 6-8

* No constraints

* No full court pressing with 20 point or greater lead

 

 

Tournament Provisions

- Each team guaranteed 3 games

* Pool winners based on win/loss record

* 1st tie breaker is based on head-to-head-results

* 2nd tie breaker is based on point differential for all games (capped at 15 pts. Per game)

* 3rd tie breaker is based on points allowed

* Last tie breaker is a coin flip or random pick

* Awards given to the winners of each age bracket

* Spectator admission = $5 per day or $8 for weekend per adult (good at all facilities); children 14 & under free

* Concessions will be available at all facilities
